AdelaideMetro doesn’t provide the only bus service in town. Whilst they operate predominantly on main routes and north to south, Council provides a free community bus service which operates in and around local streets.
Three different ‘community’ circuits operate between main roads and local destinations like shops, aged care facilities, community centres and local events. Easy-access vehicles are driven by volunteer driver and maintained by council mechanics to ensure they run smoothly.
Some of our volunteer drivers have been us for over 15 years, each bringing their own personality with them to the job.
Driver assist people who can't drive themselves for whatever reason that may be. They also enjoy a good conversation!
Community buses are just one of the many services council provides to help local residents but it wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of volunteers.
This week is National Volunteer Week and we always always welcome new drivers. For more information about volunteering with council please click here or call 8405 6600.
