In response to the loss of trees due to higher water flow and in addition to our ongoing revegetation programs, we are planning an event in June to recognise Arbor Day. First celebrated in America in 1874, Arbor Day is now recognised globally as a day set aside for tree planting. In conjunction with Greening Australia, Arbor Day will get people involved in planting trees and learning about the amazing value of trees for our natural environment.
There will be plenty to do including native bee hotel building and a tree adventure trail located in the surrounds of the reserve. For active children there will also be a nature play space and pavement chalk drawing activities for them to get their hands dirty. This free event will be held on Sunday 24 June from 10am-2pm at Beefacres Reserve, Pittwater Drive, Windsor Gardens.
There will be a BBQ and coffee van, so come along and get planting for Arbor Day. Registration to attend is required, so please contact Greening Australia on 8372 0100 or email to make your booking, or for more information about the event. Please bring your own gloves.
