As the suburb of Lightsview has grown, Folland Avenue has become increasingly busy. To improve safety for road users, a new roundabout has been installed at the entry to the Northgate Shopping Centre on Folland Avenue near Fosters Road.
The old bitumen around the intersection was ripped up a few weeks ago. This is being replaced with a new roundabout and surrounding road to make the intersection safer for both vehicles and crossing pedestrians. A footpath upgrade will include access ramps, new landscaping, and improved street lighting.
In short, this means greater safety for pedestrians, the freedom for motorists to exit the car park safely, and the space for buses to pull into indented bays to pick up and drop off passengers.
The City of PAE, Peet Ltd (Lightsview developer),
SA Planning, Transport and Infrastructure
, Ward councillors and State Members all came together to ensure that this important road safety project went ahead.
Work will be completed before the end of June.
