We've been working with Tauondi Aboriginal College and
St John's Youth Services
to develop an Aboriginal Barista Social Enterprise initiative to provide opportunity to build on skills, confidence and enhance their social capacity of young Aboriginal people to in our community.
Aboriginal students from the high schools in the City of PAE submitted their art as a part of the Barista Van Vinyl Wrap competition.
Mount Carmel College
were the selected winners and had their art wrapped onto the new barista van.
The van will be used as interactive training tool for all participants, where they will have to apply their training in a business environment. They will experience quick pass engagement with an expectation to deliver a service. Their training and the experience will enhance their ability to socialise with customers and build their confidence in themselves and their abilities for future opportunities.
Catch the van out on the streets and at events soon! If your school or workplace has an upcoming event, and would like the services of a barista van, please contact Tauondi College on 8240 0300.
Current partners project are; the Australian Government, through the Indigenous Affairs Network, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, St Johns Youth Service, Tauondi Aboriginal College, Aboriginal Legal Rights Movement, Aboriginal Sobriety Group, Aboriginal Prisoner Offender Support Service and the South Australian Aboriginal Sports Training Academy.
