Development Compliance

Under the Development Act 1993, a development must not occur unless it is granted Development Approval. The role of our Compliance Officer is to respond to complaints, usually from members of the public, in relation to alleged breaches of development approval or illegal developments occurring within City of Port Adelaide Enfield.

The Compliance Officers also undertake compulsory inspections on developments of a more sensitive nature; these include any development that was determined by the Council Assessment Panel and two storey dwellings that may cause overlooking issues if upper storey windows are not adequately screened. Random inspections are also undertaken on other developments to ensure that they are built in accordance with the approved plans and meet the relevant conditions of approval.

Visit Council's Online Services website if you wish to report illegal building work or a breach of planning conditions (ie. overlooking or hours of use).
