During 2017 we have undertaken extensive community consultation to ask people to share their thoughts about dogs and cats in our community. We loved hearing about what your pets mean to you and the suggested actions we could take, to ensure a great environment for all.
We have combined your feedback with our City Plan objectives and our responsibilities under the Dog and Cat Management Act 1995 and have developed a Draft Animal Management Plan – People, Pets & Places. (see below)
The Animal Management Plan is about supporting responsible pet ownership and for people and pets to experience the best of living in their community. We have framed our actions over the next 5 years around 3 key community outcomes.
People and Pet-Friendly Places – public spaces that are safe, comfortable, accessible, well connected and has amenities for both people and dogs (Actions 1-8)
Responsible Pet Ownership– responsible pet owners who are aware and comply with legislation and local laws (Actions 9-20)
Responsive Council – A Council that responds to the changing needs of the community and administers and enforces the Dog and Cat Management Act 1995 (Actions 21-36)
In the attached survey link (see below) we invite you to tell us if you think we have it right, or if there are improvements we could make to the proposed actions.
We will again be providing opportunity for you to provide feedback on City of Port Adelaide Enfield Facebook and Twitter feeds.
