Beach Access

It’s something many people take for granted, but access to our beaches is limited, if not out of reach for many people, due to mobility. The City of Port Adelaide Enfield is working collaboratively to improve access to services and key locations for people with disabilities.

The mats enable access for wheelchair and gopher users, and people with prams. It follows extensive collaboration between the community, Councillors and Council Staff.

The Beach Access Mat is rolled out permanently at Semaphore Beach to enable easier access for wheelchair and gopher users and people with mobility problems as well as people with prams. The path is located north of the Palais and has a Beach Access sign at the start of the path leading to the beach. The mat is monitored by Council staff and volunteers for damage and issues daily.

Additional sites will be rolled out in the next month so stay tuned for more details.
