Green Business Incentive Scheme

The aim of our Green Business Incentive Scheme is to provide financial incentives to small medium enterprises (SMEs) in the City of PAE to invest in:

  • renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainable transport technologies and circular economy and measures that help reduce the city’s greenhouse gas emissions – see municipal emission snapshot for Port Adelaide Enfield
  • on site plantings and water efficient irrigation systems that help reduce urban heat and increase our city’s tree canopy
  • waste management and circular economy initiatives
  • other innovative proposals that align with the Scheme’s aims

Timeframes

Applications for Round 3 open on Monday 4 December 2023. The Scheme will be open until Friday 31 May 2024 (or until the yearly budget allocation is exhausted).

Please note that applications are processed as they are received. We aim to notify you within four weeks following your submission.

Eligibility

The scheme is open to small medium enterprises in the City of PAE that meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • must operate a for-profit business located within the City of PAE
  • are a legal entity with an active ABN
  • have 200 or fewer full-time equivalent employees (small-medium enterprises)
  • any necessary approvals have been granted from property owners (where relevant)
  • any necessary development approvals have been secured if required

How much can you apply for?

Any individual small to medium sized business can apply for up to $10,000 in funding in a single application across the below-mentioned themes, per financial year. “In kind” contributions such as project management by SME staff can also be submitted as part of contribution.

Small to medium-sized businesses can apply for up to maximum of 50% of cost for the following:

Energy battery storage systems (up to $5,000)

Appliance Electrification

Replacement of gas appliances with electric or solar powered (e.g., hot water, heating or cook tops) (up to $1000)

Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Planning

Greenhouse gas emission reduction planning initiatives (up to $3,000) such as:

  • Greenhouse gas emissions inventory and emissions reduction strategy preparation
  • Greenhouse gas inventory independent audit
  • Climate active certification

Energy Efficiency

Energy efficiency audits (up to $3,000)

Water Savings

Rainwater tanks or Water Sensitive Urban design (WSUD) interventions (up to $3,000)

Greening Mature tree plantings and linkage to irrigation systems or Water Sensitive Urban design (WSUD) interventions (up to $3,000)
Zero Emission Transport / Plant

Zero emission transport / plant initiatives (up to $2,000) such as:

  • Electric vehicle / bike charging stations
  • Bike racks and secure lock-ups
  • Switching to electric power tools and plant

Other

  • Other innovative green business improvements (up to $2000) such as:
  • Energy efficiency lighting upgrades
  • Whole of business efficiency / sustainability audits that could include waste, energy & water
  • Waste initiatives (e.g. commercial green and co-mingled waste diversion)
  • Sustainable product developments/ selections that encourage circular economy outcomes

Assessment Criteria

Each application will be assessed on its individual merit against the following criteria:

How to apply?

We provide an online application tool to help you prepare and submit your application. It's called SmartyGrants and it's available via the Apply Now button below. If you're a new user, you will need to start by registering a new account. Once registered and logged in you will be redirected to the "Before you Begin" page where you can start your application.

Applicants can only apply online when funding rounds are open. Support or access to computers and the internet can be provided if required.
