Reclink
Reclink delivers, connects and supports people experiencing complex disadvantaged and social exclusion through active participation in sport and art programs. Individuals who would typically benefit have a disability or have barriers as a result of poor mental health, drug abuse, offending, homelessness or social isolation. Reclink utilises or converts their attraction and enjoyment of sport, recreation and leisure into education and employment outcomes. This partnership is a grass roots community development and holistic approach to improving community well-being. This project has significant alignment with Council's Sports Development Plan by providing a necessary link between the social service and sport sectors through programs that encourage participants to eventually move into mainstream sport, recreation and leisure.
Media Resource Centre
MRC has a strong community focus. They play an active role in building well-being, both in social capital and economic wealth, through community media projects. Community storytelling is powerful not only via the stories but also the dynamic process which builds connectivity through the sharing of personal stories and from the camaraderie arising from the challenge of learning new skills. Stories From My Neighbourhood which will make (over three years) 15 mini-documentaries about local streets and neighbourhoods in the City of Port Adelaide Enfield. This project has significant synergies with the Community Development teams Good Neighbours work, which aims to build connections, at the local level, between neighbours in order to reduce social isolation, build community capacity and enhance individual and community wellbeing. It also contributes to the teams work around improving perceptions of safety at the local level. Mini-documentaries will be used as a source of inspiration to other neighbourhoods the team will work with, used by Council's communications team for a variety of purposes, and shown in full at a celebratory event linked to Neighbour Day.

Neighbourhood Node
Celebrating Winter Solstice with a connection to the local environment and people. Three fires were lit on open ground and senior Kaurna elders invited to tell their stories in a picnic atmosphere.
2019
Neighbourhood Node Pty Ltd t/a “The Pear” were approved $3,000 to host a street party to celebrate The Pear's first birthday with its community in Alberton;
RSL Largs Bay Sub-Branch Inc were approved $7,500 to activate and beautify the laneway running alongside the RSL to the Largs North Railway Station with memorial gardens;
Mixed Creative were approved $2,994 to host the Wonderwalls Block Party to celebrate the completion of street art works by international, national and local artists during the Wonderwalls Festival 2019 in Port Adelaide;
Angela Leaney t/a The Dutch Pantry were approved $3,000 to create a large Dutch-inspired 3D mural with bikes and live garden in Klemzig;
Glanville Golf Course (Belgravia Leisure) were approved $3,000 to activate the Glanville Golf Course by hosting a family-friendly outdoor movie night during the October school holidays;
It’s Port Adelaide (Darryl Poole) were approved $6,000 to showcase and celebrate the connection between people and places across the City of PAE through a storytelling project utilising photography, videography and social media;
Woodville Gardens School B-7 Childrens Centre were approved $3,000 to create an inclusive environment for children and families through an Indigenous inspired mural, a small native garden and seating area in Woodville Gardens;
North West Business Alliance were approved $3,000 to run the Hop On Hop Off Shuttle Bus service taking national and international tourists from the cruise ships at Outer Harbour to the Semaphore Road and Port Adelaide tourist and shopping precinct;
POSH markets were approved $3,000 to host the inaugural POSH Arts and Design Fair at Hart’s Mill;
Reclink Australia were approved $3,000 to deliver Aerosol Art workshops and liaise with community and businesses to identify suitable walls across the City of PAE for artists to showcase their talent legally;
St Brigid's School were approved $5,000 to invigorate an existing outdoor space adjacent to a church, school and community hub in Kilburn by creating a welcoming nature-based play space;
Marine Life Society of South Australia Inc were approved $3,000 to research and map large anchors in public spaces around Port Adelaide to form a Port Adelaide Anchor Trail celebrating the Port’s rich maritime heritage;
GroundSwell Community Group were approved $1,000 to assist residents in the Lefevre Peninsula to construct verge garden beds;
Friends of Taperoo Dunes were approved $950 to develop and install informative signage to form a Dunes Coastal Trail at Taperoo;
MichelleJahn was approved $1,000 to learn about yarn bombing and to produce yarn installations within the outdoor space adjacent to the Hillcrest Community Centre;
Helen Psaila was approved $520 to bring neighbours together to paint stobie poles with nature illustrations at a Croydon Park street.
One Culture Football was approved $7,500 to support the continuation of their successful community engagement project within the Blair Athol region.
The Port Church Incorporated was approved $7,500 for seed funding to support the establishment of a community cafe. This project will foster community connectedness in a free and supportive environment.
Port Adelaide Uniting Church was approved $7,500 to support Bent Pine Community Garden Mural. This project will create community awareness of the Bent Pine Community Garden.
Tutti Arts Inc. was approved $2,910 to support Tutti at the Port in 2018, which is a vocational program for people with disability that will support people to achieve their potential through working to overcome the educational and social barriers that hold them back. This new program is in partnership with Fontanelle Studios and will support the creation of inclusive and accessible creative environments for people with a disability in the Council area. Funding was only provided for the materials this year to due previous funding being provided in 2017
Junction Community Centre was approved $7,500 to support Sewing: from Ottoway to the NPY lands. The 12 month weekly sewing classes will consist of migrant/refugee women who will come together to socialise and be provided with free fabric (donated by Lutheran Community Care) and machines to do mending/ alterations/ dressmaking plus develop skills through the tuition of an experienced teacher. The participants will make items for themselves, their families and also for the families of the NPY lands, of which will then be delivered by Lutheran Community Care.
Junction Community Centre were approved $6,466 to establish a multicultural community choir to bring isolated people together and encourage cross cultural relationships.
Indian Australian Association of South Australia was approved $7,500 to support the IAASA Centre English Classes for all levels. The recently announced more stringent measures for levels of English proficiency requirements are necessitating more support in this area for the emerging community.
Multicultural Communities Council of SA was approved $7,500 to support the Health and Wellbeing project for isolated CALD Mothers. MCCSA will bring isolated mothers from different groups of CALD communities together to engage in fitness and wellbeing activities. Creche was provided to support participation and used to encourage group self-management. The program will deliver fitness classes and offer information sessions tailored to address the needs of young mothers. To information sessions in areas of financial management, legal/migration, domestic violence, Centrelink, Medicare, breastfeeding, suicide prevention and Council services.
AJZ Productions was approved $7,500 to support True North Pathways, which is a program that will provide people up to 23 years with a mentor youth leadership program within the arts sector.
Western Adelaide Domestic Violence Service was approved $7,460 to support the Healing and Wellbeing Programs for Women. These programs will facilitate a holistic healing and wellbeing program for women who have lived with domestic and aboriginal family violence. There will be two programs that will provide activities and opportunities to build skills and strategies that promote personal and emotional safety and increase community wellbeing.
The Grove Uniting Church was approved $7,200 to support an after school Art and Craft Group. Arts and Craft activities will be provided in a safe space for homework will be provided for disadvantaged children in the area (Approximately 60 children).
Adelaide International Youth Film Festival was approved $5,000 to support the Reel Big Filmz project. Reel Big Filmz is a community outreach filmmaking program that enables young people to participate in creative, fun, engaging and skills building workshops based on film, media and visual storytelling, using their own ideas.
Australian Refugee Association was approved $3,000 to support the Refugee Education Scholarship Project. The Australian Refugee Association (ARA) will provide educational scholarships for clients from refugee backgrounds who reside in the City of Port Adelaide Enfield. Funding will contribute towards the costs of course fees, uniforms, text books or other study related equipment and will be capped at $100 per scholarship recipient.
Ghana Association Of South Australia was approved $7,150 to support the Cultural Drumming & Dancing Project, which is a diverse community cultural and social cohesion program - through language, drumming, dancing and cooking.
The Opportunity Games was approved $5,000 to hold a fun and interactive sports day for people with mental health challenges who live in Supported Residential Facilities.
The Uniting Church in Australia Property Trust (SA) was approved $2,430 to support the community garden - Acknowledging Kaurna Land. Support for stage two of the community garden, which has had significant interest from the community in stage one and aims to support the ongoing commitment to building meaningful relationships between indigenous and non-indigenous people.
SA Parkour Association was approved $1,050 to support Introduction to Parkour Experience. Parkour is an engaging training discipline that has very little barrier to entry. Participants don't need any equipment, or even shoes. Therefore engaging people with Parkour can equip them with both the ability and motivation to take their health and wellbeing into their own hands, and without any financial or travel barriers.
CK Community Hub (previously known as Cottage Kitchen) were approved $3,595 to deliver a creative art project that will engage people experiencing mental health challenges in photography and watercolour painting workshops with exhibitions to be held during SALA in August 2019.
Second Chances SA were approved $7,500 to support children of prisoners in the PAE region to attend camps where young people are mentored and engaged in activities which build their sense of positive value, with the aim of diverting them from entering the juvenile justice system.
Caribbean Association of South Australia were approved $6,259 to deliver an after school music program from the Parks Library to engage disadvantaged and disengaged young people.
South Australian Wheelchair Basketball Association were approved $7,500 to support their Junior National Wheelchair Basketball Team Development Project.
Wandana Community Centre were approved $4,900 to support their Black is a Rainbow Colour Project, creating a safer space for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people aged 12-17 years who are questioning or identify as LGBTQIA+.
Batyr were approved $7,500 to support their Shaping Port Adelaide's Mentally Healthy Future Project. The program will reach 300+ young people with professionally facilitated interactive workshops harnessing the stories of ‘lived-experience’ young speakers and teaching five constructive behaviours - Look Out, Get Talking, Listen Up, Reach Out and Take Charge.
Filipinos IConnect SA Inc were approved $7,500 to support their iConnect One Stop Hub to establish a place for people from CALD backgrounds in the City of Port Adelaide Enfield to access activities fostering mental and emotional wellbeing, values formation, environmental awareness, and a sense of belonging in the community.
Lolly Jar Circus Inc. were approved $3,200 to support their Multicultural Social Circus Classes that will include immigrant children and young people, to enable them to socialise and form friendships in a fun, non-threatening way.
Multicultural Communities Council of SA were approved $7,500 to support their Strengthening Capacities of Young CALD Volunteers through mentoring, leadership and governance training by removing barriers and providing an opportunity to train with peers in a fun and safe environment.
North Haven Surf Life Saving Club Inc were approved $3,422 to support their Seniors First Aid Courses at North Haven Surf Life Saving Club. This is an education program for older people designed to encourage long term social and community connections through activities focused on first aid.
Royal Life Saving Society Aust South Australia Branch Inc were approved $7,500 to support their Water Safety Education for CALD Port Adelaide Enfield residents.
Taperoo Community Centre was approved $1,00 to support the immediate need to transition three of Kura Yerlo's programs to the community centre.
3BallSA Basketball Association Inc. was approved $600 to support the 3Ball Basketball, which is an inclusive basketball program at The Parks Community Centre for marginalised youth designed to give the youth basketball skills and self-confidence to actively participate in the main sessions.
Hepatitis SA was approved $1,000 to support the Ladder Youth Art Project, which involves health promotion through the arts for young people at Ladder. Specifically, the project seeks to increase awareness about hepatitis C, whilst engaging participants through a professional 1-day stencilling art course.
Western Adelaide Domestic Violence Service was approved $1,000 to support International Women's Day, which is a full day celebration to support women who have experienced/still experiencing the trauma of domestic violence and are still managing the effects of the trauma. Domestic violence for women and children can be in any form of DV Including physical, emotional, financial, verbal, social and spiritual abuse. The workshop will focus on self-care and provide a safe space for women to learn about self-care and practice self-care as an integral part of managing their trauma symptoms and emotional well-being.
Cottage Kitchen was approved $1,000 to support the Mad for Mosaics project, which will encourage people who are disadvantaged, isolated by mental health challenges, on a low income and have low self-confidence, to engage in a program that they have created for themselves.
Junction Community Centre was approved $1,000 to support the new alfresco learning and social space. This will convert an alfresco area into an additional learning and social space for outdoor activities.
One Culture Football was approved $1,000 to support the Special Futsal at The Parks project. A community sport program giving people living with disabilities and new arrivals a chance to forge community connections, socialise, and learn life skills all through playing the "world game". The aim of the project is to integrate people from all walks of life (marginalised) in the community using the power of sport.
St Brigid’s School was approved $1,000 to enable the immediate response following interest from the community to engage socially isolated refugee women in a sewing and gardening program.
Port Adelaide District Baseball Club were approved $900 to host their inaugural Port Adelaide Baseball Club Indigenous Round on 25th February 2023.
SoulSpace Christian Community Inc were approved $1,000 to support their Random Acts of Coffee Barista Training, providing basic, introductory barista training to refugees, people with disabilities and youth seeking employment.
Cruising Yacht Club of South Australia (CYCSA) were approved $1,000 to design and create the artwork for the South Australian Women's Keelboat Regatta.
Friends of Taperoo Dunes were approved $339 to support free access to the Dune Detectives and Education resources that families can do together whilst exploring nature.
