The City of Port Adelaide Enfield is home to a diverse range of open space including 8 km of coast line, significant wetland systems, 44+ sporting sites, part of the River Torrens linear park and numerous parks and reserves. The Open Space Strategy is used by Council to guide the provision and development of open space across the city. We are revising our current Open Space Strategy (2013) to ensure that our open space meets the current and future needs of our community.
A copy of our current Open Space Plan Strategy(13701 kb) is available.
Also available is the Open Space Strategy Progress review(930 kb) which was the first stage of the project
The new strategy will be complemented by the Active Recreation Facilities Needs Assessment which plans for the future of the assets (e.g. playgrounds, fitness stations and half courts) in our open space; more information on the Active Recreation project can be found here
What do we mean when we say open space?
Open Space includes all land which is publicly owned and managed and is publicly accessible for community use. This includes spaces such as sporting grounds and golf courses, parks and reserves, linear parks along the coast and river systems, wetlands and stormwater reserves, natural areas, plazas and town squares, and streetscapes. At the City of Port Adelaide Enfield we recognise that open space is valuable to our community. It creates places where people love to be, which not only supports our health and wellbeing, promotes community connections, but also protects the environment.
That is why we are committed to ensuring that there is an appropriate provision of good quality open space across our council area.
How can you be involved?
You can be involved by telling us how you currently use these spaces and your ideas and thoughts on how we can improve how we plan, design, develop and manage these spaces in future. To tell us what you think you can fill in a survey now by going to the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PAEOpenSpace
The survey will be open until 23 September 2019.
