Development Process Workflow

After a development application has been lodged for approval, it is assessed by a relevant authority for a decision. How a development is assessed depends on the complexity of what is being proposed and its location. You can find further information about the assessment process here.

When you begin construction you will be required to notify us during particular stages of the building work which allows us to potentially undertake inspections, further information about this process is available here.

At the end of most building works ('Class 1-9') a Statement of Compliance and/or Certificate of Occupancy is required to be submitted and issued prior to occupation of a building. A building approved under the PDI Act cannot be occupied until the Certificate of Occupancy has been issued. To do so represents a breach of the Act with a substantial penalty attached (up to $10,000). Further information on this process can be found here.
