Port Region

Take a deep breath of fresh sea air and get ready to experience South Australia’s maritime heartland. You’ll find evocative seafaring history, a waterside heritage area with Sunday markets, galleries, cafés, pubs, including a brewery hotel and the world’s only inner-city dolphins... all only twenty minutes from the city.

The Port has some of the finest colonial buildings in Australia. Take a walk along the docks and through the old Port to experience the ambiance. Self-guided and guided tours are offered.

The Maritime Museum, Railway Museum and Aviation Museum are located on Lipson Street and open daily…check out the F-111, climb the old ketch and ride the steam train. End your day with a climb to the top of our famous red lighthouse.

We we recently launched our brand new Visit Port Adelaide tourism app and interactive wayfinding Smart Kiosk which you can find next to the lighthouse. The free app includes tourism maps, historic tours, an augmented reality ghost hunting tour, local businesses and attractions. Download the app for free today by visiting the Apple or Play Store and searching for "Visit Port Adelaide"

The Smart Kiosk next to the lighthouse will help visitors to find their way around and learn more about the local area, attractions, businesses and history, no matter what time of the day or night they visit.  This project was created and implemented by The City of PAE with input from local Port Adelaide businesses. It was funded by a Smart Cities grant from the Federal Government.
