SA Water North Lefevre Peninsula Wastewater Upgrade

The State Government 30-Year Plan for Greater Adelaide (30-Year Plan) has identified the Le Fevre Peninsula as an area for significant growth. It is expected that future development will be concentrated in the northern part of the Peninsula resulting in additional wastewater flows. Historic growth rates are significantly less than those adopted for the 30-Year Plan and, therefore, a staged approach is appropriate to avoid over investment in infrastructure.

Existing wastewater infrastructure in some areas of the Le Fevre Peninsula is already operating at maximum capacity and isn’t able to accept additional flow. In particular, large areas of the wastewater network leading to the Ethelton Pump Station are at times operating at more than 100% capacity and are in need of a capacity upgrade.

SA Water will upgrade the existing pump station at Dover Terrace, Largs North and install a new rising main from Dover Terrace to the Ethelton Pump Station. This will improve the capacity of the existing network and support the management of odours in the area.

The existing pump station at Dover Terrace, Largs North delivers wastewater via a rising main into a gravity main at Fletcher Road, Peterhead.  During some flood peaks, the system is unable to cope which has resulted in some manholes surcharging. In addition there have been complaints regarding odours emanating from the Dover Terrace Pump Station and the gravity main that transfers wastewater to the Ethelton Pump Station.

The majority of work will be carried out during weekdays, however some night and weekend work may be required.
