At its core the collective is inspired by Afrobeat master Fela Kuti, and the hot dance rhythms of his Nigerian nightclub Afrika Shrine.
 
The eclectic mix of West African drumming, tribal chant and funk is Afrobeat’s international appeal. This novel expression was to morph into the sonic buzz of empowerment, liberation and global awareness.

Ah Hum! – The Latin Connection, showcases the vital dance music forms that migrated from Cuba and Puerto Rico to New York City in the 40’s and 50’s, evolving into contemporary genres such as Nuyorican Soul and Latin-jazz. 

Ah Hum! Proudly South Australian, is a Latin band of cosmopolitan chic. The core ensemble of ten joined by guest artists, share an enthusiasm for the infectious rhythms of Afro-Cuban music. This band reflects the rich cultural diversity, talent and aspiration of those within our midst. 

Alana Jagt’s dynamic rasp soars over her blend of stormy folk-rock noir that's refreshing yet somehow familiar. With a meaty rock band formed around Jagt's instinctive, distinguished song writing, and with their deft shape-shifting ability, Jagt can (and will) play a tiny gin bar one night and Brisbane's coveted BIGSOUND festival the next.

Adelaide musician Alexander Black combines pop production aesthetics with a singer songwriter craft to produce attitude giving, energy filled works with meaningful messaging. Sharing music focused towards queer, sexually and gender diverse people, Alexander hopes to inspire emotional growth and understanding. Alexander is largely inspired by a mix of modern indie pop band The 1975, queer pop artists Troye Sivan, MUNA, and The Japanese House and more classic singer songwriters like Phoebe Bridgers, Father John Misty and Bob Dylan.

Led by founding member, trumpet and vocalist, Christian J Weber, Atlantic Street Band take inspiration from traditional New-Orleans jazz, swing, gypsy jazz, and more modern styles, ASB focus on live performances that will get everyone's feet tapping. From children's songs through to classics by the likes of Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller, the bulk of ASB's repertoire is from the 1920s, but don't be surprised if you hear jazzy interpretations of popular songs from the 80s through to today.

Badland Caravan is a psychedelic blues band from Adelaide, South Australia. We are comprised of four long term friends, having been involved with each other musically in various capacities for several years, before coming together formally as a band at the end of 2021. We draw our influences predominantly from 70s progressive and hard rock, 60s psychedelia and 50s blues - all interpreted through a modern lens - however there are elements of soul, funk, jazz and latin music among others present in our sound. 

Our live performances are high energy and engaging. We are as a band quite jammy and experimental, consequently, interspersed amongst conventional song structures are spaces for improvisation. Our sets draw upon the intuitive aspects of music, lending themselves more to feeling and movement rather than passive listening.

Blu J, the stage name of the soulful jazz vocalist Jay Chooi, intricately weaves the timeless essence of jazz with the laid-back vibes of lofi, hip-hop, and soul. With a soulful baritone timbre and a 3-octave vocal range, Blu J's smooth, mellow tones, and breathy nuances create an emotive and vulnerable sound. Influenced by legends like Chet Baker, Chet Faker, Nina Simone, and the evocative style of Melanie De Biasio, Blu J's music defies traditional genres. It seamlessly blends jazz roots with the chill atmospheres of lofi, the rhythmic beats of hip-hop, and the electronic pulses of modern soundscapes, resulting in a captivating fusion that resonates across soul, electronic, and jazz genres, appealing to both classic and contemporary music enthusiasts.

Brett Gray is an emerging acoustic rock/alternative country music artist.  If you haven’t heard his name yet, you're about to!  Stemming from outstanding Adelaide band Eleven Days, the front man / singer / songwriter / guitarist embarked on his solo career in 2021 with the release of his debut album, Eleven Days and Then Some.  The ten-track album is described as a mix of rolling ballads, foot stomping bar room dance floor fillers, anthemic peaks, and heartfelt songs of history and love lost.  With a supporting band of superb Adelaide musicians, Brett is starting to appear at music festivals around Australia.  He impresses audiences with catchy melodies, roaring solos, and thought-provoking lyrics.  Brett is an entertainer not to be missed!

Carl Dover is an Australian based singer / songwriter - his musical direction is pop / rock, indie / alternative – influences range from Matchbox 20, Train and Passenger to Nirvana – hook driven, punchy rock / pop songs for the masses; commercial and radio friendly. Carl has been writing and performing for 15 years, and independently releasing songs and albums. Carl's catalogue is presently over 80 works. Carl's current album ‘Neon Gold’ was released in 2023 at the Adelaide Fringe. Currently recording a follow up album ‘Nightlife’, due Feb 2024 with new debut single just released called 'Pretty Lonely Girl'."

Cartel Afinke showcase two newer genre of Latin music that emerged from Dominican Republic and the Puerto Rico. The Dominican Republic’s music scene highlights the romantic tidings and spiky guitar rhythms of syncopated Bachata music. Music from Puerto Rico involves the recent hybrid genre Reggaeton, which features prominently in the current nightclub scene.​ Cartel Afinke is an 7 piece band which is embracing these genres and launching into the Adelaide music scene.

Comprised of ex members of Howling Fog, Superphatass, Visitors, City of Satellites we're an experienced 5 piece outfit with an impressive clutch of new original songs. Built for live performance Chancery Lane have already impressed music lovers at local gigs around Adelaide. 

CHOP is a Kaurna-based performance art and live music project formed in the midst of Covid in mid-2021, consisting of Timothy Kandybko, Ika Hermanus-Smith, Art Hussnain, and Boris Shirokih. Since then we have entertained a community that has formed around our message of participation and inclusion. The highlight of our career so far has been our weekly August 5 AM residency at a DIY venue. 

Post Punk on Kaurna land

A unique blend of yearning guitars, echoic drums and uncompromising vocals, Coldwave have asserted themselves in Adelaide’s burgeoning post-punk scene over the last two years. With a sound described by Triple J’s Dave Ruby Howe as “indignant post-punk pulse accelerant”, the six-piece’s most recent single ‘Plagiarise’ has been featured on ABC’s Rage and Triple J’s Home & Hosed program, as well as their Unearthed Top 5 Songs of the Week podcast. 

Cyanide Farm are a four piece punk rock band. Creating not only loud music but irritating as well. Nothing can beat the shock value of this West Suburbs band keeping punk alive. 

Performing under the name Fantastic Black Plastic, Nick Gencarelli acquired a 
taste for vinyl at an early age. Collecting underappreciated sounds from 
around the globe from the past all the way up to the present, he specialises in 
soulful, underground music.

Street parades, blocos take place all throughout the city of Rio during the Carnival, the most famous and largest carnival celebration of the world - in all its colourful, hedonistic bacchanalia. There can be more than 300 bands playing at any point in time.

Inspired by the blocos and bandas that mobilize crowds on the streets and are the main popular expression of Brazilian Carnival. Jambu Loco will be bringing that experience of the Rio Carnival with the Samba, Samba reggae, Axè and MPB music with the explosive bateria percussion ensemble driving the groove that is uplifting, high energy, noisy, seductive and addictive. 

Jamie Lena makes music to feel into the heart space, writing honest melodies to hold space for reflection and intimacy. With plenty of groove and soul, Jamie draws inspiration from RnB/neo soul wonders, such as Lianne La Havas and Lauren Hill, plus notable jazz and folk influences, Joni Mitchell, Erykah Badu and Carole King. An ethereal voice of milk and honey sings stories of love, life, and heartache, with effort to make sense of this human experience.

Kuiper performs instrumental post rock, ambient, electronic music that is driven by synthesizers. The artist is best known for creating music and a space for people to forget where they are and turn inward.  In 2021, Kuiper released their first album called Alignments.

Maisie are psychedelic groove masters residing on Kaurna Land, Adelaide, SA. The quintet encompasses a unique array of talented musicians; Emmett Prime, Yanni Apostolidis, Madeleine Cossey, Olivia Aquilina and Edward Tyson, joining forces to create your favourite flavour of music.
Their infectious grooves and juicy basslines are brought to life through their high-energy performances. Emulating the treasures of funk and psych rock, Maisie explore new textures and infuse their creative essence into the musical realm. The band are often likened to tastes of Funkadelic, Khruangbin, Hendrix and Babe Rainbow, and their contagious melodies are bound to get stuck in your head.

Mode are a five-piece Britpop band from Adelaide, Australia, playing energetic, power-pop-infused indie rock. Blending mod, Madchester, punk and new wave, Mode create a peculiarly Australian take on classic British sounds.

With Keyte's intimate and detail-rich lyrics, sensitive yet powerful voice, and her band's intuitive and painterly accompaniment, this collective humbly offers up a truly beautiful and moving set. Drawing inspiration from artists like Big Thief, Maple Glider, Feist, Gillian Welch and composers like Nils Frahm and Bill Frisell, Naomi Keyte brings to life songs in a nuanced and singular way. There isn't anyone who sounds quite like this.

Coming to you from the Barossa Valley are Newgate Crowd. As a 3-piece alternative rock band they like to bring a big, punchy and energetic sound both live and in the studio.  Newgate Crowd have been crowned winners of Battle of the Bands  (Barossa Arts Festival 2022, 2023) and the 'Busk til Dusk' award at Barossa Vintage Festival (2021). They have also performed at the inaugural NO Quiet Festival (2021).

Through the ritual of drone and the ceremony of modulation, Night Rites create dynamic and rhythmic textures that build and decay in an oscillating projection of dark psychedelia. Formed in early 2019 through a mutual love of vintage instruments and effects, Night Rites was born of late night ideas dreamt up backstage in some of Adelaide’s most loved music venues.

Placement have quickly built a reputation for their live performance, and have been likened to bands like Sonic Youth and Dry Cleaning. Placement have played headline shows including at The Gov and Jive, and supported bands including Hockey Dad, Mark of Cain, Press Club, Cloud Nothings and CIVIC. They released their debut EP 'Lost Sun' on vinyl through Endless Recordings in 2021, receiving national and international coverage, including plays on Triple J and rotation on Double J.

A band consisting of 2 thirds emo, 1 ninth ballroom and a little dash of Steampunk/circus-esk flare with techno rhythmics! Inspired by the greats such as Panic! At The Disco, Fall Out Boy & My Chemical Romance, we provide a unique style of Out of Box Emo & Alt' Punk Rock music that accompany our on stage theatrical presence that we enjoy bringing to our audiences.

Soulfully inspired, multi-instrumentalist singer-songwriter, Rob Edwards combines the moving melodies of jazz, blues and R&B with the powerful art of storytelling to create a unique and authentic sound, sure to leave a lasting impression. Rob combines his passion for culture and Indigenous roots and his family's story through the stolen generation, with his heavy influences of new wave soul makers Hiatus Kaiyote, Jordan Rakei, and Tom Misch.

With a rock style rhythm section and vocalist, supplemented by a vibrant horn section. The Royal Australian Navy Band of South Australia facilitates great versatility of repertoire, meaning the ensemble can showcase a classic selection of music from the 60s all the way through to current hits.  

Shadow Monarchy are a heavy rock/alternative metal band from Adelaide on the rise. 
2023 has seen the band play numerous successful shows throughout Adelaide and regional south Australia.  
The band features talented indigenous lead guitarist Jamie Ramzan. 

Siberian Tiger is a true labour of love for partners in life and in music, Bree Tranter & Chris Panousakis. In this case, what started as a ritual for burnout catharsis began to take shape in the stolen, quiet moments that punctuate the life of a touring musician. Since joining forces as Siberian Tiger the two have performed at South  Australian festivals - WOMADelaide, Folkloria and ‘Space Jam’.

Street Legal are an exciting five-piece new wave collective performing on Kaurna Country, South Australia. Sharing a love of the post disco and punk ethos refashioned in the early aughts, the band have been turning heads with their socially conscious tunes and no-holds-barred approach to music making.

Susie Bingo are a five-piece band based in the Adelaide Hills formed in 2018. Piano and synth driven indie rock with a hint of disco bass, snarly guitars, shouty male backing vocals, contrasted by the sweet cherubic female vocals make up the sound.

The Confessionals unique sound fuses atmospheric electric violin and gnarly guitar riffs with a gutsy female vocal to create a moody energy that will make you want to get up and dance.

Drawn from the western, northern and inner suburbs of Adelaide, Garage blues outfit, The Dead Regulars play regularly around town at venues such as the Metro, Exeter, ARThur and Prompt Creative Centre. Last year they were programmed for two feature slots at the Royal Adelaide Show and also played the Reclink Community Cup fundraiser event at the Metro.

Only a Mad Scientist could mix up this concoction! A Heavy Metal drummer, a Punk Rock guitarist, a Black Metal guitarist and a Rockabilly bass player create The Hammer Horrors!!! Pyschobilly Garage Surf Punk Rock created in 2021. A sound for the monsters and maniacs to shake, rattle and roll their bones! 

We're a 4 piece alternate rock band from the western suburbs of Adelaide. Playing original tunes since our inception in 2022. Releasing 3 singles in the back half of 2023 with our debut EP set to be released early 2024. Playing venues such as Jive, The Cranker & The Grace Emily and playing alongside bands such as Rat Tamango, Blue Lucy & Rum Jungle.

The Red Earth Blues Band are a four piece Blues Rock band. We have been playing pubs, clubs and festivals across South Australia since 2013 and we are currently touring our new album of original music.

THE TIMBERS’ thumping rhythms and big misty mountain melodies will cast you away to a sweaty, smoky, melting-pot of folk, roots and Celtic bushman brassy punk. They rollick and hammer their way through live gigs with abundant energy and have become festival favourites throughout Australia.

Adelaide based musicians Elian Hamilton, Simon Ielasi and Aaron Fuller are the architects behind alternative rock act, The Unset. Frustrated by the sound of contemporary rock bands, The Unset manage to find the equilibrium between commercialism and experimentalism. A skyscraper of sound is created by loop and noise pedals to make way for an alluring, minimalist soundscape within a few bars, leaving audiences with a unique visceral experience.
 
Off the back of winning 'Best Song’ at the national Captured Australia competition, The Unset released their debut EP Polymer and came forth as a must-see act across Adelaide. The Unset have supported The Mark of Cain, Osaka Punch, sleepmakeswaves and Caligula's Horse.

Tilly Tjala Thomas is a Nukunu singer-songwriter who grew up on the Fleurieu Peninsula, South of Adelaide. The electronic pop and indie musician has bagged numerous industry accolades, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Musician of the Year, NIMA Unearthed Award at the 2021 National Indigenous Music Awards and the Emily Burrows Award at the 2021 South Australian Music Awards and has since released her first EP, Sanctuary.

Trainesong are an original band with a genre that blends folk, pop and rock - the band have three international songwriting awards under their belt. 

Wicked Empire are predominately an original melodic hard rock band from Adelaide South Australia, that deliver hook laden music influenced by some of the greatest classic rock groups like Thin Lizzy, Bad Company, ACDC, The Angels, Lynyrd Skynyrd and too many more to mention.

Wicked Empire released their debut self titled album in January 2021 which is available on all good streaming services.
