Sport and Recreation Grants

The aim of our Sport & Recreation Grant Program is to encourage active lifestyles in the local community by supporting organisations to deliver sporting or recreation opportunities for the benefit of the PAE community.

Timeframes

Applications will be assessed in March and September with opening and closing dates listed below. If you can demonstrate why your application is urgent and should be assessed outside of this, please contact us to discuss. We aim to notify you within four weeks of the closing date.

Sports and Recreation Grants are now closed.  The program will reopen in July 2024

What Funding options are there?

Applicants can apply for up to $1,000 for activities and purchases that clearly demonstrate alignment to the program aim and one focus area.

We are seeking to support sporting or recreation activities that deliver on one of the following focus areas:

  • Children under 9 where the opportunity is based in Ottoway ,Wingfield, Taperoo, Osborne, Croydon Park, Devon Park, Dudley Park, Largs Bay, Kilburn, Regency Park, Northfield, Ferryden Park, Mansfield Park, Greenacres, Hampstead Gardens, Angle Park, Blair Athol, Klemzig, Largs North, Rosewater or Hillcrest.
  • Professional Development for committee members to improve club governance where the club can demonstrate a clear need
  • Non-playing skills/ professional development for under 30’s linked to employment or longer-term club sustainability
  • Youth participation, specifically to ensure ongoing engagement in activities for students 10-17 years
  • People from Culturally & Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities
  • People from low-medium income households
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
  • People living with a Disability
  • Women and girls
  • People over 50

Eligibility & Assessment criteria

Eligible applicants must be not-for-profit, properly constituted and incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act (1985) or have another comparable legal status. Please see our guidelines for more details on eligibility. Eligible applications will be assessed against the following criteria:

Sport and Rec assessment criteria

Some examples of eligible activities are as follows:

  • Purchase of club uniforms for juniors to subsidise fees of the club
  • Tournaments/competitions for people with financial and other barriers to participating in organised sport
  • Child Safe Environments training for new coaches
  • Pedometer challenges
  • Governance training
  • First aid training or other training
  • Playgroup in the park
  • Establishment of a new running or walking group
  • Purchase of sports equipment for junior or over 50s teams

How to apply

We provide an online application tool to help you prepare and submit your application. It's called SmartyGrants and it's available via the Apply Now button below. If you're a new user, you will need to start by registering a new account. Once registered and logged in you will be redirected to the "Before you Begin" page where you can start your application.

Applicants can only apply online when funding rounds are open. Support or access to computers and the internet can be provided if required.

Success Stories

Adelaide Outriggers Incorporated were approved $875 to purchase AOCRA Level 1 Coaching Courses, to enable them to run Come n Try programs for adults and youth.

Adelaide Roller Derby Incorporated were approved $1,000 to purchase sports specific first aid training.

Australian Uyghur Tangritagh Women's Association were approved $1,000 to purchase yoga and stretching weekly sessions for women.

Kilburn Football and Cricket club Inc were approved $990 to purchase footballs.

North Haven Football Club were approved $1,000 to purchase junior equipment.

Para Vista Lutheran Cricket Club were approved $1,000 to purchase items for their new Girls Cricket Program.

Port Adelaide District Baseball Club were approved $577 to purchase large drink coolers for their junior teams.

Port Adelaide Spartans Gridiron Club were approved $1,000 to purchase tackle bags to be able to teach juniors how to safely tackle.

Portland Football Club were approved $1,000 to purchase junior sporting equipment.

Regency Park Golf Club Inc. were approved $1,000 to purchase junior golf clubs to assist in the promotion of junior golf.

Telugu Association of South Australia Incorporated were approved $1,000 to support their Keeping fit with Badminton program.

Western Aquatic Swimming Club were approved $874.70 to purchase dry land training equipment.

Port Adelaide District Baseball Club were approved $2,000 to support the purchase of a grass edger for the Field Blokes (Friday Men's Shed).

St Bede's Anglican Parish of Semaphore were approved $2,000 to support the purchase of an automatic defibrillator with wall cabinet for community use.

Tigray Community Association of South Australia were approved $2,000 to support the purchase of equipment for their over 50s activities.

Greenacres Community Garden Inc were approved $1,890 to support the purchase of garden tools to enable older/mobility impaired members to complete pruning or other tasks in a safe manner.

HCO Disability and Community Services were approved $908 to support the purchase of a basketball hoop and table tennis table to provide people with disability the accessibility and opportunity to try new things.

Australian Uyghur Tangritagh Women's Association were approved $2,000 to support the replacement of their recently broken Laptop.

Labyrinths on LeFevre Friends Group were approved $1,273 to purchase tools and equipment necessary for keeping the 400+ plants on the labyrinth.

Semaphore Bowling Club were approved $2,000 to support the purchase of a Cool Room Storage eliminating the need to keep food in eskies.

Slovenian Club Adelaide were approved $1,900 to support the purchase of a quality automatic coffee maker to support improved safety for their volunteers.

Rotary Club of Regency Park were approved $404 to support the purchase of a community trailer used by members of the Ridley Grove Community Garden with rubbish removal and transport of club equipment.

Port Adelaide Artists Forum were approved $1,255 to support the purchase of digital equipment for the sale of artworks, entry to events and performances.

Port Adelaide Tennis Club were approved $2,000 to support the purchase of a Ball machine that will enable the establishment of cardio tennis sessions targeted at new and beginner level tennis players.

Lefevre CFC / Lefevre Kids Program were approved $1,699 to support the purchase of a portable PA system enabling the expansion of their programs.

Caribbean Association of South Australia were approved $2,000 to support the purchase of four midi controllers that will increase participant capacity at the Parks Library program.

Portlife Church were approved $2,000 to support the purchase of chairs for the Green Monkeys café and playgroup.

TS Adelaide Naval Reserve Cadet Unit were approved $1,975 to support the purchase of New Drums for their drumming program.

Community Group - Robin Road Village were approved $449 to support the purchase of garden tools enabling the “In Our Street” group an opportunity to expand community connections, increase new member participation, and improve the local environmental landscape.

The Parks Theatre - YMCA of SA were approved $2,000 to purchase radio microphones for their school holiday programs.

Port Adelaide Obedience Dog Club were approved $2,000 to support the purchase of a computer and printer to support improved communication and connection between members.

Port Adelaide United Workers Clubs Inc were approved $1,240 to support the purchase of a free-standing gazebo to create shelter and shade for the outdoor barbecue and fridge area
