Greenacres Reserve upgrade begins

Published 7th September 2023

Today Claire Boan - Mayor of the City of PAE, Katrine Hildyard MP and club representatives, turned the sod on the construction of a brand new $6.35 million clubroom and reserve upgrade at Greenacres Reserve.

We will be demolishing the existing structures and constructing two new buildings, with a beautifully landscaped and covered breezeway connecting them. One of these buildings will serve as a social hub, housing a modern kitchen, bar, canteen, and restrooms. The second building will accommodate two AFL standard change rooms, a medical facility, four storage rooms, an umpire room, and public toilets.

Additionally, the tennis courts will be completely overhauled with new surfacing, improved lighting, and enhanced fencing. The aging cricket nets will also be replaced. To the south of the facility, a revamped basketball practice court will feature new basketball and netball rings.

This public reserve is home to four prominent sporting clubs and a hub for over 400 participants. Greenacres Tennis Club, North Eastern Knights Cricket Club, Payneham Postel Soccer Club, and the Windsor Gardens Soccer Club will be primary users of the finished facilities, which will address the burgeoning demand for tennis, soccer, and cricket facilities and support the clubs in their efforts to introduce junior and female teams.

This project has been funded by $4,889,000 from the City of PAE, and $1,461,000, by the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing. The City of PAE is managing the project, with Blu-Built Constructions undertaking the construction, and SMF Architects overseeing the architectural aspects.
