We support young people and give them opportunities to participate in the community

We’re committed to giving young people opportunities, information and support. We strive to make our community a great place for young people to work, live, study or play in.

Spark change in PAE

We are doing a callout for a team of young people aged between 12 and 25 who have an interest and/or skills in event management, marketing and project planning. Would you like to be part of co-designing an event, online campaign or community project that sparks change for other young people? Whether you have just started high school and are figuring out your passions or you have recently graduated and want to put your skills to good use, tell us why you want to be involved by visiting Participate PAE.

Learn and earn

We believe that everyone should have access to education, training and employment opportunities. We offer work experience opportunities for local young people. Discover the work experience program on our careers page.

There are five libraries located in the City of PAE, each with a collection of resources to assist you with your study. Our libraries provide more than just books. They have computers, videos, DVDs, CDs, magazines and sports equipment.

You can find information about your local primary schools, high schools, and tertiary and adult education opportunities via the links below.

TAFE SA is the biggest provider of vocational education and training in South Australia. There are over 800 different courses at TAFE in a range of areas, and you can study either part time or full time. You can even do VET courses while you're at school.

Studying at university is another option for tertiary education. There are three main universities in South Australia. SATAC stands for the South Australia Tertiary Admissions Centre, which processes all the applications for TAFE SA, the Universities of South Australia and Charles Darwin University.

There’s more information about leaving school on the Centrelink website.

Stay active and look after yourself

Keeping active and building social networks are important. We believe all sport and recreation activities should be available and affordable for the entire community. The search function on our playgrounds, parks and gardens page will help you locate local sporting facilities and outdoor play spaces.

Our activities and programs guide also showcases plenty of social groups and options for young people. You can also check out the Youth Facebook page (PAEyouth) to find out about programs and activities.

Talk to a counsellor

Reconnect provides one-to-one counselling services for young people aged between 12 and 18 who are experiencing difficulties that may cause family breakdown or homelessness.

They can also provide support to your family, guardian or carer and mediate family issues, so everyone can have their say in a fair and respectful manner. Reconnect is an outreach service, which means a youth worker can meet you in an appropriate place. The Reconnect team also delivers group programs for young people and parents.
