About the council

We deliver projects and services to improve your local community. You can help us shape the future of your area by attending workshops, submitting petitions, making deputations and voting in elections.

Who the council is

The City of Port Adelaide Enfield Council is led by the Mayor and 17 Elected Members. Supported by council staff, they decide which projects and services get delivered in your community, from repairing roads and footpaths to providing activities for children, families and older people.

Many of the services you use every day are managed by the City of PAE, like community centres, sporting grounds, rubbish collection and libraries. At its heart, the City of PAE is about making your local area the best place to live.

Our Mayor

Claire Boan is the Mayor of the City of Port Adelaide Enfield. She was re-elected for her second term in 2022.

Mayoral recognition for birthdays and anniversaries

You can request a personal message of congratulations from the Mayor for anyone living in the City of PAE. Messages are available for 90th, 95th, 100th, 105th and 110th birthdays and for 60th, 65th, 70th and 75th wedding anniversaries.

Make your request at least one month before the birthday or anniversary so we can deliver the Mayor's personal message by the special day.

Elected Members (Councillors)

You can contact the Mayor or Elected Member to discuss any problems in your local area or to talk about any issues you have with the City of PAE.

Elected Members are members of the local community and volunteer their time to help out residents. Many of the Elected Members have regular daytime jobs as well, so although they will get back to you as soon as they can, they may not be able to do so immediately.

You are also welcome to ask the Mayor or a Elected Member to attend your local community or school event. Remember to let us know if you would like them to make a speech as well.

What the Council does

Making plans for PAE

We create an Annual Business Plan and Budget that shows you what programs and activities we will deliver over the next financial year and beyond. We also create other plans that focus on important issues like infrastructure, finance and land management.

The new plans we create each year build on the strategies in our City Vision.

See all the plans on our Reports and Plans page

Financial management

The City of PAE handles money openly and responsibly by:

  • Producing the annual budget
  • Producing the annual financial statements
  • Raising and collecting rates
  • Investing council funds
  • Raising and administering council borrowing
  • Maintaining statutory registers
  • Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable

We use the Australian Accounting Standards to produce transparent financial statements. Each year we publish:

  • An income statement
  • A statement of changes in equity
  • A balance sheet at the end of the financial year
  • A statement of cash flows and other notes
  • Other documents required by the Local Government Act 1999

Fees and charges

The City of PAE charges for some services. Each year we set our fees and charges in the annual budget.

Vote in council elections

Elections for the positions of Mayor and all 17 Elected Members (Ward Councillors) are held every four years, and the next election is in 2026. Voting in elections is the best way to have your say and help shape the future of your area.
