During October, we promote opportunities to connect with our natural environment. PAE is a rich and diverse region with a tapestry of coastlines, dunes, rivers, wetlands, mangroves, parks and reserves, and a connection with nature is fundamental to our wellbeing. The Nature Festival enables us to deepen our relationship with the natural world.

Rich in biodiversity, the wetlands provide vital habitat for more than 130 bird species, dozens of native plant species, and iconic wildlife including the rakali and Murray short-necked turtle. They are also at the forefront of conservation, supporting the return of the locally extinct Yellowish Sedge Skipper butterfly, restoring native host plants for threatened species, and creating healthier ecosystems through innovative habitat restoration projects.
As a place where nature is being actively protected and restored, the Barker Inlet Wetlands offer visitors a unique opportunity to experience the remarkable diversity of South Australia's coastal environment. Experience this important area for urban biodiversity with insights from an expert involved in its conservation.
