Renewal SA has unveiled plans for an 80-meter pedestrian bridge set to redefine Port Adelaide's landscape and continue the ongoing waterfront revival. Scheduled for construction next year, the bridge at Dock One's western end will seamlessly link the retail heart of Port Adelaide to the maritime heritage area at Dock Two.
The bridge will be accessible for pedestrians and cyclists, with clearance underneath for small watercraft to pass freely. It will be integrated into the existing loop path and promenade network.
Residents of the upcoming Kite Projects' 750-home master-planned community flanking both sides of Dock One will benefit immensely from this development. The bridge promises enhanced accessibility, not only within the community itself but also via improved connections to public transportation along St Vincent Street.
The visionary design of the bridge, conceived by Largs North based construction company BluBuilt, aligns perfectly with the existing promenade and the surrounding landscape. The design's seamless integration and emphasis on accessibility were pivotal in its selection as the preferred option. Port Adelaide subcontractor Maritime Constructions, will be responsible for erecting the bridge's foundational piles.
The opening in 2024 will coincide with the fourth phase of civil and building works on the northern expanse of the Dock One residential development.
