You may notice a low-flying plane flying over Woodville Gardens and the surrounding suburbs. This is a Department of Primary Industries and Regions plane that will be releasing 36 million sterile fruit flies over the next six weeks. Check out this video to learn about the process and how it works.
This proactive measure aims to disrupt the fruit fly life cycle by introducing sterile flies that will breed with any wild flies, ultimately preventing the establishment of fruit fly populations.
