Keep an eye out for City of PAE employee Toby on a TV screen near you, as he is the face of a new national traineeship campaign by Maxxia Australia that showcases the successes that traineeships can bring both for trainees and employers.
Toby joined us on a traineeship with our drainage and linemarking teams in 2021. During that first year, he upskilled in all aspects of the job, while gaining licences to operate machinery and vehicles that the job requires.
While cleaning out storm drains and doing maintenance on city infrastructure can be a dirty job at times, his enthusiasm and dedication to the work saw him rewarded as South Australia’s runner-up Aboriginal Trainee of the Year last year. A year ago, we were able to offer him a permanent full-time position with our field crew and he has been in this role since then.
