Last night Mayor Claire Boan, Minister Emily Bourke MLC, and club representatives, officially opened the brand-new clubrooms and upgraded training facilities at Greenacres Reserve.
This $6.3 million redevelopment caters to a growing number of athletes, with unisex change rooms allowing clubs to expand their junior and female programs. For the first time, clubs will also have access to dedicated function spaces, providing much-needed opportunities to host events and generate revenue.
Tennis players can now train and compete on upgraded courts with lighting that meets Tennis Australia standards, and the new Book-A-Court system will allow easy public access throughout the day. Meanwhile, cricketers will benefit from new practice nets built to Cricket Australia standards, which have already seen a significant increase in community use.
Greenacres Tennis Club, North Eastern Knights Cricket Club, Payneham Postel Lions SC and Windsor Gardens Old Scholars Soccer Club call this reserve home, and are the key beneficiaries of the new facilities, which are set to strengthen grassroots sport in the region for years to come.
The project was constructed by local business BluBuilt Constructions, and funded by $4.844 million from the City of PAE and $1.461 million from the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing.
This investment ensures Greenacres Reserve will continue to be a vibrant hub for sport and recreation, fostering community engagement and athletic growth.
