Thanks to a PAE grant, Enfield Gem and Mineral Club has just installed a new Automated External Defibrillator at its clubrooms, an upgrade that will help keep members and visitors safe.
Run entirely by volunteers, the club has been part of the local community for more than 50 years and is one of South Australia’s oldest gem and mineral clubs. Members regularly gather to learn and share skills such as gemstone faceting, jewellery making, silversmithing and mineral collecting.
“Our members come together four times a week for workshops, meetings and social events, and many are older retirees” said club President Dianne Zurcher. “We also work with machinery, so having an AED on site is incredibly important for safety and peace of mind.”
“The grant process through council was very positive,” Dianne said. “The application was straightforward, and staff were approachable and encouraging. For small volunteer organisations like ours, this kind of support makes a real difference.”
The new AED is now installed in an accessible cabinet at the clubrooms and ready should it ever be needed, helping ensure the space remains safe and welcoming for everyone who uses it.
