Every year, around 38,000 people are reported missing in Australia, and nearly 3,000 remain long-term missing for more than three months. Behind every statistic is a family still searching for answers.
On the weekend, we proudly welcomed South Australia's first two Green Seats as part of The Green Seat Project, with installations at Roy Amer Reserve, Oakden and the Largs Bay foreshore.
Founded by missing persons advocate Sally Leydon, whose mother Marion Barter disappeared in 1997, the Green Seat Project aims to keep missing people front of mind while providing a place for reflection, remembrance and hope. Each green seat carries the message: "The Missing Matter."
These seats are a visible reminder that someone, somewhere, may hold the piece of information that helps bring a loved one home.
If you pass by one of these seats, take a moment to sit, reflect and remember those who are still missing and the families who continue to wait.
