Fruit fly outbreak March 2024

A new Queensland fruit fly outbreak in Salisbury North has been declared after multiple detections of male Queensland fruit fly were found within a 1km radius, within a 2-week period. All fruit flies confirmed so far have been found in PIRSA’s Fruit Fly monitoring traps.

As a result, a Queensland fruit fly outbreak has been declared in metropolitan Adelaide affecting surrounding suburbs. You can find detailed maps, and further information about the affected areas and what it means for residents, on the outbreak map https://fruitfly.sa.gov.au/outbreak-map

As a result of the outbreak being declared, the following control zones have been put in place:
· 200m radius Red Centre – Red Zone
· 1.5km Outbreak Area – Red Zone

· 15km radius Yellow Suspension Area – Yellow Zone (AFFECTS PAE).

Residents living within the Yellow Zone are permitted to move homegrown fruit and vegetables from their property so long as it remains within the 15km Yellow Zone, see attached Market Access map that shows where the Red and Yellow Zones are.

Homegrown fruit and vegetables must not be moved out of the 15km Yellow Zone into any Green Zone, which means any location outside of the yellow area marked on this attached map.

Once any fruit or vegetables are moved into the Red Zone, they CANNOT be moved again. It must be binned or eaten.
