Reserves for Hire

We provide large open spaces, smaller parks and gardens throughout the city to be used for recreational activities, offering the perfect location for family and friends to gather for picnics, BBQs and special occasions including weddings.

A reserve booking can be made for small private events that has 50 or less attendees, using minimal portable infrastructure and with no commercial business activity as part of the event. The infrastructure permitted under the booking is limited to:

  • A marquee no more than 3 metre by 3 metre in size
  • Portable camping tables/chairs
  • Picnic blankets
  • Eskies
  • Portable barbeque (no public sales, catering for event attendees only).

In addition to a reserve booking, a permit will be required for private events which:

  • Involve the operation of a commercial business/es such as:
    • Petting zoo
    • Bouncy castles
    • Mobile food vendors
    • Face painters
    • Entertainers
  • Will have 51 to 100 attendees and which require a substantial amount of infrastructure which may include:
    • Use of multiple marquees or a marquee larger than 3m by 3m.
    • Use of furniture/infrastructure from an event hire company.
    • Specialist equipment such as a climbing wall or portable stage
  • Will have 101 or more people attend, require substantial infrastructure and/or involves the operation of more than one business and needs additional event planning to consider:
    • Additional waste management requirements
    • Provision of adequate toilet facilities
    • Parking requirements for attendees
    • Notification to nearby businesses and residents

Reserve hire costs and considerations

Private events of a commercial nature: $1815 per session regardless of the number of attendees.

Casual reserve hire fees for:

The applicant will be required to inform impacted businesses and residents via written notification when one or more of the following occurs as a result of the private event:

  • The availability of on street parking is impacted by the private event.
  • Access to businesses or residents’ premises are restricted due to the private event.

The notification will need to include:

  • Date
  • Time
  • Location
  • Description of the private event
  • Contact details of the private event organiser

An application can be made online or in person.

You may need to submit the following documents as part of your application:

  • A Certificate of Currency of your Public Liability Insurance with a minimum cover of $20 million, noting City of Port Adelaide Enfield as an interested party
  • A site plan showing how furniture/infrastructure will be placed, including dimensions of the space to be occupied.
  • A risk management plan (if applicable).
  • A copy of the notification letter to be sent to impacted stakeholders (if applicable)

Your private reserve hire application will take seven working days to process.
