Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Awards

We are proud to acknowledge and celebrate our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their contribution to our community.

Each year Council seeks nominations from members of the community and community organisations for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Awards. The Awards are presented at a special event hosted by Council and the Aboriginal Advisory Panel.

Recipients of the City of Port Adelaide Enfield Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Awards may be nominated by Council for the State and/or National NAIDOC Awards.

Nominations for the 2024 Awards will open later this year.

  • Elder of the Year
  • Aunty Josie Agius Youth Achievement Award
  • Person of the Year
  • Sports Person of the Year
  • Contribution to the Arts
  • Educational Achievement
  • Lifetime Achievement
  • Recognition of an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island group or organisation for its contribution to
    the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community
  • Recognition of a non-Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person, group or organisation for their
    contribution to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community

The Awards booklets produced each year showcase all of the nominations received, and highlight the exceptional achievements of local people, groups and services.  Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people should be aware that these booklets may contain images and names of deceased people.
