Victoria Road Air Quality Study

Victoria Road Air Quality Study

The Victoria Road Air Quality Study has been established to capture and analyse information on emissions from traffic on Victoria Road and surrounds.  This will provide information on how air quality may vary along the road and how it may be affected by variations in weather conditions.  The roadside monitoring  gathers data on particulates (PM) and CO (carbon monoxide) and will be used to model likely levels in residential areas along Victoria Road.

The study is being worked on by a Community Panel, which was set up to provide valuable local input and is supported by the EPA and the City of Port Adelaide Enfield in a Community Co-design approach.

The study’s specific objectives are to:

  • Establish a model for conducting investigative air quality monitoring in partnership with the City of Port Adelaide Enfield, the EPA and the community.
  • Involve the local community in developing and designing the critical elements of the study e.g. location of the sensors in the field.
  • Contribute to the understanding of patterns of exposure to air pollutants in the Lefevre Peninsula area.
  • Test and commission small fine particle sensors and associated communications and data processing systems in a near road environment.
  • Capture information on emissions from traffic from Victoria Road and provide information on air quality in residential areas near the road.
  • Analyse the monitoring and modelling results.
  • Identify any priority responses to mitigate identified risks.

Please see the EPA’s Engage page which provides some further information and contact details for the study, should you wish to find out more or contribute.
